WIth or Without Books...

That just put U2's "With or with you" song in my head...anyway, so people are up in arms. I'm still thinking things out before I write anything but this was an interesting article posted by Buffy Hamilton on FriendFeed that I wanted share. Libraries without books...going all digital...why can't you have both? So many questions to consider. We don't know the full story of what happened at Cushing Academy but hopefully some one out there can share some insight or if not them, maybe another school library out there going through the same thing. Of course, that brings up awhole other bag of worms...

Libraries are trying to imagine their futures with or without books.

The future of libraries, with or without books

Books are being pushed aside for digital learning centers and gaming areas. "Loud rooms" that promote public discourse and group projects are taking over the bookish quiet. Hipster staffers who blog, chat on Twitter and care little about the Dewey Decimal System are edging out old-school librarians.
